BEACH BUMS

Zephrhill, Florida

Hailing from Zephyrhills, Florida, The Beach Bums were early rock ‘n’ rollers whose 1960s appearances included area high-school, city-auditorium, and VFW-hall dances, as well as special performances in the ballroom at the then-ritzy Cherry Plaza Hotel in downtown Orlando, and on the then-popular teen dance show “Hi-Time” broadcast live on Saturday afternoons by NBC affiliate WFLA-TV in Tampa, where The Beach Bums rocked the house with Beach Boys’ hits including "Barbara Ann" and “Long Tall Texan”.

Pictured left-to-right are Charles Oswald (guitar & bass), Russ Miller (rhythm guitar), Helen Chenkins (drums), and Alan Murphy (lead guitar).
