Bessemer, Alabama
The band started in 1965-6 and originally called themselves The Trojans; by the early 70's they had become Night Wind, and soon after, Mother Savage. The members included Jack and Steve Griffis (drums, guitar) Russ Guyton (bass) and Dwight Kimberell and then Mark Shope lead vocalists. They played at the high school--Jess Lanier back then--at the Bessemer city auditorium, and other small venues in Bessemer. They also toured around the south. They did originals and covers.
